Principle

Buyer Evidence Score™ measures how effectively an organization converts transformation activity into externally verifiable evidence across five equal-weighted dimensions.

Definition

BES™ scores organizations 0-100 across five dimensions: Decision Evidence™ (20%) — can important decisions be reconstructed?, Operational Evidence™ (20%) — can operational improvements be independently verified?, Financial Evidence™ (20%) — can improvements be linked to measurable financial outcomes?, Institutional Evidence™ (20%) — would improvements survive executive turnover?, Transferability Evidence™ (20%) — can another leadership team produce similar outcomes?

Operating Law

BES™ measures the evidentiary quality of transformation — not the magnitude of transformation itself. A high BES™ organization has transformation that can be trusted, financed, transferred, and underwritten. A low BES™ organization may have significant operational improvement that is invisible to external parties.

Implications

  • 1.Decision Evidence™ (20%): Measures Decision Visibility Infrastructure™, decision ownership, rationale capture, assumptions, alternatives considered, and approval traceability.
  • 2.Operational Evidence™ (20%): Measures process improvement, productivity, throughput, customer outcomes, quality, AI deployment, and workflow redesign — all independently verifiable.
  • 3.Financial Evidence™ (20%): Measures linkage between operational improvements and EBITDA, operating margin, ROIC, cash flow, revenue growth, and capital efficiency.
  • 4.Institutional Evidence™ (20%): Measures governance, documentation, ownership, repeatability, organizational memory, and transformation recording — 'Would improvements survive executive turnover?'
  • 5.Transferability Evidence™ (20%): Measures operating systems, playbooks, automation, AI agents, knowledge systems, and institutional continuity — 'Can another leadership team produce similar outcomes?'
  • 6.BES™ is the scoring foundation for the Buyer Evidence Report™ — a standalone $500 report generated by The Lens™ for boards, PE firms, M&A advisors, and transaction teams.
